METU Amateur Astronomy Society (AAS) was founded in 1986 after that a group of students and academicians interested in astronomy and science gathered to observe Halley’s Comet. Under the METU Directorate of Cultural Affairs, our society has been working for more than 30 years in our community room located within the Physics Department Building.

OSA-SPIE METU STUDENT CHAPTER

OSA-SPIE Student Chapter represents two of the most prestigious optical societies among the world. Both are well-established and leading societies in their fields. OSA, (renamed as) The Optical society, was founded in 1916 in order to assemble scientist under a roof and to lead research and educating. SPIE, (renamed as) the international society of optics and photonics was found in 1955 to create a specialization in optical instrumentations.
